The Viking House Design Competition

The American Conservatory of Art in Los Angeles (ACA), which has produced the most award-winning art projects in the country for the last decade, has announced that it will host a competition for house design in which art and design students will compete to design a house.

The ACA will offer up $10,000 for the winning designs, as well as a prize of up to $50,000.

The winning entries will be exhibited in the fall at the Los Angeles Conservatory Museum.ACA President and Founder Mary E. Smith said the commission was conceived to provide a space for art students to create artworks for public display, but also to encourage and inspire others in their field to pursue their creative passions.

“The beauty of the project is that the students who are entering are really passionate about the same thing,” Smith said.

“We’re really excited that they are able to make the most of their time in the process and really make their mark.”

The art and architecture students will receive their entries in a month’s time.

The winner will receive a $50 gift certificate to the museum.

Smith said the winning house designs will be on view in the summer of 2019.
